Must’ve Smelled Like Carrots

On my  neighborhood walk I stopped at the pasture fence and whistled at Bella. She perked her ears and started over.

She strode directly toward me with her elegant  part-Arab stride, eagerly, expectantly.

Maybe she was after a treat, but a soft rub on her nose was all I had to give.

Further up the road and around the corner I spotted this guy:

He saw me too, and not any less eagerly or elegantly, sauntered toward the fence…

where he looked at me expectantly, waiting for me to convene with him there.

Meet Gengi. If you look close you can see his tusks. As much as I wanted to, I restrained myself from rubbing  his nose!
