The sun was clear and bright, casting its light through the traces of clouds that made everything a shimmery silver. The tide had just pulled out, leaving the sand smooth and clear, and the water lay flat and calm.
It felt like a perfect clean slate for the New Year.
I took this picture to my studio and thought about the colors. While the New Year’s morning had been pure, clear, almost colorless, it was atypical of the sunrise sky most days. I pulled out the Cadmium Orange Hue, and Yellow Deep Hue, the infamous Opera Rose, and my fav, Prussian Blue, and put together New Year’s Dawn.
