Maui’s Hana Relay

The relay is a 52 mile race along the curvy, hilly road to Hana. Runners go over 67 bridges along the way through the lush green landscape of East Maui. Teams are made up of six runners, with each member running three 2-3 mile legs. Runners come from around the world for bragging-rights to participating in this one-of-a-kind race. Prizes are awarded for most spirited team and costumes are encouraged. This year 125 teams entered! We hung out at mile marker 15, near the end of the fourth leg.

At 7:15am, our first runner!

Every race needs a Batman.

And a cowboy & Indian.

And in the end, a beer.

Doesn’t it look like fun? If you’re inspired to run it next year, see the Valley Isle Road Runner’s Website.
