Bon Dance Season

It’s Bon Festival Season, the time of year when Japanese Buddhism places of worship hold their annual services and celebrations to honor our ancestors.  I went to the Mantokuji Soto Mission festival in Paia.

The Bon Dance is part of the ceremony. This is truly a community event, and anyone can join in, regardless  of age, race, religious affiliation, or talent.

Even me!

The next generation of dancers watch and learn.
