47th Annual Makawao Paniolo Parade

Every year the parade kicks off the 4th of July Rodeo weekend. This year’s theme: “E Ho’omau Na Paniolo” – Perpetuate the Paniolo Lifestyle.  What’s a rodeo parade without the Rodeo Princess?

And the bagpipers!

Dancing hula on the back of a moving float can’t be easy.

The boys showed their stuff too.

This videographer had a smooth set up.

Pa’u riders in dresses made from  palaka print, which was very popular in the old Hawaiian paniolo (cowboy) days. The horses’ lei are made of woven ti leaf.

We’re pretty patriotic out here in the middle of the Pacific 🙂
