Runner’s Adage (Or: “What I Learned Training for a Half-Marathon in a Very Hilly Place)

“When the road is long and uphill, and the sun is shining hot and hard, keep running. As much as you may want to stop and rest, don’t. Wait to take a break in the flat, shady, cooler place beyond the hill. Under the pressure of the hill and sun it is time to work; rest, contemplation and solutions come best in the ease of the shade.”
